Billpaying Services

Our clients often look to us as a resource. They seek our advice and counsel on the selection of a financial planner, a caregiver, or to find other needed services.

During the past few years, we have received numerous calls from our clients asking for our assistance with managing bills and other financial matters. For many of these clients, our office becomes actively involved with helping them manage their accounts, receiving and paying bills on their behalf, and even making estimated tax payments and overseeing other matters. In these situations, the involvement (and the cost) of an attorney is necessary and makes sense.

However, there are also occasions where a client simply wants monthly assistance to review their bills and to balance their checkbook. In most of these cases, the client is still actively paying their own bills – the client is just looking for a little help. Although our clients know us and would like for us to be involved in these situations, it has been difficult for our office to offer this type of assistance in an economically feasible fashion.

We are pleased to announce that as of September 21, our office will have a staff person who is able to offer these other services in a cost-effective manner. This staff person can meet with you in your home or other location of your choosing to help write out your checks, balance your checkbook, etc. You will have the added comfort of knowing that this person is under our supervision.

Our firm will charge $45 per hour for these services with a required minimum one hour charge for any visit. As in the past, we will continue to offer more extensive financial management services, including our office actually receiving and paying bills and providing you (or your power of attorney) with a quarterly Quicken summary of your finances. These more extensive services have more attorney involvement and include other charges.

The estate planning and elder law fields continue to evolve. As these areas change, our office also tries to change to continue to meet our clients’ needs. It is our hope that providing these additional services will allow us to meet such needs more effectively. If you are interested in these services, please contact us.
